This is an update to my very popular "All of my Macs and Their Uses" video that I filmed over a year ago. This is a fantastic way for everyone to keep up to date with the current machines I own, their specifications and my future plans for the system. Any machine that you've previously seen on the channel that is not shown in this video has been sold / given away.

Thanks for watching! I hope you all enjoy...

If I remember right, when you had taken that G4 Mac Mini apart to clean it, you re-installed the fan upside down. That's more than likely what's causing it's issues.

I got a 2012 MacBook Pro quad-core i5 model in Sept of 2015, and nearly a year later (after having problems after problems), it gave out on me in Sept of 2016. I had previously gone to the Apple store to get it "repaired" about 10 times, but none of those times did they fix anything. Even the last time, before it died, when I got it back, it was actually returned to me in worse condition than before I handed it over for repairs (it had a huge dent in it for whatever reason). Right before it completely gave out on me, it was just going crazy; it wouldn't charge whatsoever, because even though it was at 27% (right before it gave out on me), the MagSafe charger was green (showing that it was fully charged even though it wasn't). It would also spontaneously shut off completely without warning, causing me to lose anything I was working on because it wouldn't save anything. And the more I tried to use it, its on-time would consistently decrease, until it finally gave out on me (I was desperately attempting to backup all of my files before it gave out completely). So, after it was completely dead and useless, I went to the Apple store only for them to point me into the direction of the MacBook Airs, and to insist that I buy a new MacBook Air as a replacement... I got very angry, but continued to ask them about my data on my HDD, since I couldn't back it up. And they responded that it would cost me $100 or so for them to backup my data. I got even more angry and in a sense started to yell at them because this wasn't fair whatsoever. And they might've gotten the notion because they came back with an Apple bag, and handed me a receipt with a total of $0. I looked in the bag and there it was: a brand new 2015 MacBook Pro. Honestly it was both an upgrade and a downgrade, in a sense that it had a better screen, WAY better battery life, better selection of ports, and was thinner, but it was a dual-core i5 model with 120GB storage, which was a little upsetting because my original MacBook Pro had a quad-core and 500GB of storage. I can't really complain much, since I got an absolute free replacement, but with the loss of all of my important files. I have now learned to store all of my files on an external HDD, because there is close to no space on my new MBP, but is useful in case something bad happens to it, because then I have a backup. Well I'm glad I let that all out lol. I am sure no one got to the end of my novel which I just wrote :D

Wow, such a nice collection!
And I know what you mean about being attached to some computers. My first laptop was a 2008 Aluminum Macbook, and I sold it on eBay to fund my next laptop. Always have a soft spot now for those.

I really wish the Mac Pro was around, I loved it. You were so happy when you un-boxed that thing, it was brilliant!

Really like the PowerBook G4 12". I understand the problems with the MDD. Last year I tried to edit a 720P video on a 2, 3 DP G5, it was hard.

Still using an early 2008 with the same specs as yours, if you have an SSD, stick it in there, mine is quite fast with a 15 second boot time.

Is there any update on the PowerPC Promise footage? As a Loyal subscriber, I would still be interested in seeing it all these years later. Keep up the great work!

Does your rMBP bottom creak at all? I don't know if I was just unlucky with some build quality issues, minor but annoying in a 2700 dollar machine...Bottom creaks around the right middle screw which seems loose, the black hinge clutch creaks and pops when pressed, and when the lid is closed it's a millimetre or two from being flush with the body.

Coll video Tom :) Though I don't think PowerPC Macs are that dead. I reckon so long as you don't go into it expecting to be able to use them for everything you'd do on an Intel mac, and you're aware of what does and doesn't work, and willing to make some sacrifices, they can be great. And people make stuff to help out like TenFourFox, YouView, that funky transmission version that supports magnet links, there's even a workaround to get Skype working on OS's as old as Panther. And Spofity still works, though it's a bit weird sometimes.

I had that exact 15" early 2008 MacBook Pro, but like all MacBook Pros of the time, it died of a design flaw in the cooling solution. The same thing happened later with my 17" model. I was able to temporarily able to fix the 17" by dropping it bottom down from about 2 feet.
