Super Monkey Ball Adventure - Advanced

Freewheeler sucks.

Adventure is the 3rd Monkey Ball gamecube game that no one talks about because it's not very good. There is no music (it uses SMB1's music) and the stage design is weird and the difficulty curve is all over the place. But I'll show it for a good laugh. Advanced has 20 stages.

Many of the later stages in this difficulty (plughole, gravity wells, bread basket) should not be advanced. They should have definitely been expert. Even one of the earlier ones (freewheeler) should have been expert.

Throwback to Freewheeler giving me my first existential crisis at 9 years old

It's cool to see Traveler's Tales attempt to recreate the gameplay of Monkey Ball, but it just looks so unfinished. The lack of atmospheric effects or environment setpieces compared to the first two games is really jarring (paired with the washed-out lighting), and the sound design and UI is really barebones (note that Aiai's face is on the minimap). Makes me wonder if TT was trying to do a more faithful Monkey Ball but ran out of time or money or something.

i can somewhat see the arguement for expert being too much in this game but i like the advanced difficulty.

Funny, I remember Plug Hole and Tornado being the same level.

Whatever. Expert definitely has a clone of a SMB1 level. Of course since this game has no Master difficulty, the Expert stages will certainly feel like Master stages. Two in particular.

fuck Freewheeler. I can beat most of the super monkey ball 2 expert stages easier than that one. This is speaking from experience.
