This was a good one. It brought out the noir side of myself, as I really wanted the antagonists to die in horrendous ways. I was truly 'part of the nastiness' by the end of the film.

I was getting a bit tired of the repeated humiliations suffered by Chris. But once it got going, it really got going. Wow! What an ending!

I can't really agree with Eddie in this case abt "Scarlet Street" being one of the greatest noir films. Robinson's performance is moving and compelling, but Bennett and Duryea seem like lightweights in this, and Bennett's character is almost a caricature.

I think the paintings featured in "Scarlet Street" are awful: repellent, almost frightening to look at and just plain fugly. They look like bad "New Yorker" cover art.
