Sounds like an octave effect on just a bass, the effect being an octave lower

Morgan Nicholls playing in the 90s with the pretty much unknown band these days 'The Senseless Things' is as good as it gets. Check out bass solo on the song 'It's cool to hang out with your ex'. And bassline on 'Got it at the Delmar'. Punk, funk, rock, slick, melodic. One of the great unknowns.
