Seasickness is caused by conflicting signals in your brain caused by the difference in what you see with your eyes, and the movement felt by your inner ears. This very simple technique encourages your brain to ignore the information being sent to it by your inner ears, and as a result you don't feel seasick!

⛵ Sailing Britaly ⛵ brings you the sailing shenanigans of Chris (British) and Rossella (Italian), as we sail our 30ft sloop. We make sailing vlogs of our cruising adventures and share any tips and tricks we can along the way. After all, sailors are one big family!

Lots of positive comments from people who planned to try it. Couldn't find a user review. Purely from a Data aspect of course. Now me. I really need this to work. xxx

Thank you. I typically get sea sickness deep sea fishing, even with medication. Last time I went I felt sick and then tried 1 ear plug and didn't get sick.

went on a 3/4 day fishing trip out of dana point. haven't been on a boat this size (65x20) in over 15 years. had never been out on a boat at sea without getting sick except for a giant cruise ship. It wasn't very rough out, pretty calm day, however, I tried this earplug trick, plus not drinking coffee and to my surprise and delight I didn't get sick at all!!! I really think it helped. Didn't want to do the patch because of the side effects. Glad I found this and tried it.

I get horrible motion sickness and for years have been using chewy ginger candies as well as chunks of candied ginger from the market. More recently the herb craze has made ginger capsules available. When I leave for the boat I down two caps with 16oz water. I bring ginger beer (no alcohol) answer sip on that if things get funny. I also bring th various ginger remedies with me. It's what has enabled me to go out in weather much worse than I ever should have been in!

Does this work if you wait to put the ear plug in your ear until after you start getting sea sick or does it have to be in your ear from the beginning?

Great tip guys, thanks!
I absolutely love sea fishing, unfortunately due to suffering so badly from sea sickness, I won't go deep sea boat fishing.
I have tried it twice, and the last time I was sick 6 hours out of the 8 at sea!!
Talk about an expensive way to get sick, I could have achieved the same thing for half the price down the pub! Lol.😆
I have also been told that anything that contains ginger also works fantastically well! 👍😊

was out in the solent sailing recently with an ear infection, in one ear. had the same effect as your ear plug trick. was able to read the newspaper without feeling queezey. usually when I go ashore to the toilet or shower cubicle everything is swaying about up to 48hrs after, no such problems with an ear infection. not suggesting you start poking things in your ears or swimming too deep in dirty water, but if you haven't packed your ear plugs it's another option. usually use Biodramina tablets though, may need prescription.

My wife suffers from severe seasickness and a viewer posted the link to this video in the comments. This is such a simple trick! We will be sure to try it out next time we encounter heavy seas as we cruise the Atlantic.
Thanks!
