Proposed Peacock Bill Ruffling Feathers In Los Angeles

Peacocks are wreaking havoc in some Los Angeles neighborhoods. Some people love them, others just want some peace and quiet. That’s why a new bill banning feeding the birds is so controversial. NBC News NOW correspondent Simone Boyce went looking for some in East Pasadena.

I grew up around them in PVE, a southwest area of LA, and I never heard of many problems. Never heard of damage to cars, just cars having to slow down for them. I think they’re pretty and exotic, and a distinguishing feature.

My neighbor had 2 peacocks as pets. Huge birds, bigger than turkeys. They were beautiful, but when they shrieked they sounded like someone was being murdered. 

Seriously, there would be these terrifying screeching sounds in the middle of the night. It did not sound like the birds in this video though... 

It sounded like a MURDER.
