This was two ideas combined into one and a good way for me to get the rest of the Pizza Tower out of my system. Though there's a few things that drag on too long I had too much fun.

I teared up when i found out that initially she was just left behind alone in a cave,
and then the devs introduced this mechanic because of the community's outcry.

The best part about saving doretta is that theres no reward for it. No credits, no minerals, no achievement, nothing and im 100% serious.

Saving doretta is drg's shopping cart problem.

You dont get anything for it, not even recognition. But, you still do it anyways because its whats right.

The only thing you get from saving dotty is satisfaction in knowing you are a good dwarf, and the happy boops of out loveable little drilldozer.

There was I team I was in, and someone called the pod before we could even look for the head.
They said, "forget the head, it doesn't matter"
No dwarf had even left their pod before I disbanded the team.

I once had a mission where this twice over promoted scout suggested we leave dotty behind, I have never seen a team turn and shoot the same thing so fast, brought a tear to my eye

Remember, dwarves; If someone leaves a valued coworker like Doretta, they are likely the same ones who left Karl, and are likely to leave you, too. Be wary of these leaf-lovers, they are sabatuers from rival companies looking to dismantle our camaraderie to make us easier to take down. Stay strong, brothers, and never leave a dwarf behind! That includes Dotty, she's more a dwarf than the rest of us.

I now feel horrible because i was not aware of this mechanic and upon completing my first ever escort mission i just looked at the exploded Doretta like "Noooo whyyyy D:", and i didn't see or hear any head

Now there won't be a single escort mission spent without looking for the head

sometimes, we have those times where we were running for our lives with dotty's head, in the mean time, we play hot potato with the head as if the head causes more aggro on the glyphids

Dotty really is a prime example of the Shopping Cart Theory. You don't gain anything for saving Dotty nor is it required. But some people still feel it's their duty to rescue her

There was this gane where the scout took doretta almost all the way to the drop pot but drop the head on the very end all the team was ready to leave without dotty but i as the driller couldn't leave without it, i made them wait 1 hole minute while i found the head and bring it to the drop pot
