I show how a tiny difference in initial conditions reveals the chaos of a simple system, 2 balls bouncing in a circle.

perfect example of my day... "start with two balls one center meter apart" whole rest of day is random bs with bouncing balls...

Problem with this sim is the bounce calculation isn’t modelling the exact moment the ball is bouncing and is just doing it on a frame by frame basis (hence they bounce to higher points than they start). This is going to introduce just as much choas in itself

how is this a chaotic system when there is a difference in the initial frame? i don't understand.

It’s not chaos. At least that my theory. You can calculate positional trajectory and even the amount of bounces the balls will do, simply based off of the initial position, if using balls, the surface their bouncing on, if they are another shape, than use that, and finally the gravity applied.

It’s not chaotic, it’s just extremely difficult to predict, but every position you try has an end point, where there is enough loss of energy that the ball won’t bounce any more.

Chaos, barely exists in our universe, I say barely even though I can’t personally think of any examples. Anywho

Goodbye now
