Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health Dr. Robert Strang confirmed 46 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, the largest one-day spike in cases the province has seen, bringing the total number of cases to 721.

Strang said during Monday's press conference that while we want to mourn the victims of Sunday's mass shooting by coming together as a community, "COVID-19 won't pause because of our pain" and we must continue to implement provincial health measures by maintaining physical distance and avoiding gatherings over 5 people. He added that when this pandemic passes the province would be able to come together to remember the victims of Sunday's tragedy, but today we need to focus on "mourning safely."

“This is hard to hear,” Strang said. “But we can’t have people gather together to show support. We thank you for your tributes but we have to do this virtually. When COVID-19 passes, we can come together as a province stronger than ever."

I think the Province needs to look at the Dart East Community and stop anyone who works at long term care facilities or Hospitals from working there temporarily since that seems to be the highest risk area in HRM... Instead have them provide testing as well inform the community how to help each other stay safe at the same pay scale...

Perhaps the Province could contact the owners of the Vacant Future Inn in Dart and set up housing for the elderly that are able to be moved so they are away from these homes...

MY PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS ARE WITH ALL THE FAMILIES

This is a very short statement by the premier about the horrific terror incident. I think it was rushed. Nova Scotians deserve better than that. We are all reeling from the nightmare. We are still learning who and where the victims are and we are learning horrific details about the fire-setting and his methods. We need more facts and leadership from those in power. Support is important but we also need reassurance from our leaders.
