Researcher Margaret Howe's initial focus with Peter the dolphin was teaching him the basics of human conversation: getting him to listen to speech, then encouraging him to “speak.”

What the hell? ITS A FUCKING DOLPHIN! They are considered the smartest species on earth next to humans, we only recently discovered they have their own communication system. Do these people no realize that their voices are not meant to make these sounds? Their vocal cords aren't meant to make such a deep clear sound like humans make. Their voices are very high compared to humans. On top of that, the human vocal cords are meant to be spoken in air, the dolphins voices are meant to travel through water. It sounds very different. It doesn't take a genius to realize this.

I think teaching a dolphin to communicate with English is a stretch. Teaching a dolphin Morse code on the other hand would be possible, sure it may take longer to decipher, but we have technology that could decipher it quickly.
