As someone who pretty much put Bionicle on pause around the time of the Visorak hoard showing up it still feels weird to me hearing Bionicle's story being described as complicated seeing as the story for the longest time was always just a basic good vs evil story with some mystery elements here or there. I swear the story only began to get complicated after the whole thing with the Visorak hoard.

How I got into Bionicle?
Well, it was early 2001. I was 13 years old and saw these cool-looking lego figures in a lego magazine, and I liked them so much I wanted them.
The first ones I got was Tahu, Lewa and Onua (I like Fire, and my two brothers like Air and Earth respectively so I got them so we could play together) and since then, I was hooked. I continued to collect all the figures each year and learned more of the Lore. And the rest is history.
Now, I have the entire collection on display in my spare room :D

I actually got into Bionicle because I was really into a different series of similar Lego's called Throw-bots. Those things were awesome, but they never made them again after 2000. Bionicle was the logical next step, and I am incredibly happy to see people still enjoying the franchise to this day.

That was fun to watch! I agree with your strategy. For the past year I've been reading the Biological Chronicle. Amazing what the person did who compiled it all! SO amazing and fun to read, even though I'm 26... about halfway through now.

I think the main problem with getting into BIONICLE lore is there was no "anchor" which told the linear story. It branched out into every medium from comics to video games, but each one was only a small part of the storyline, like the story of the blind men and the elephant.

Even the most convoluted of stories like Star Wars or Final Fantasy still had a "through line", where just watching the movies or playing the games by themselves would be a satisfactory experience. BIONICLE's approach was admirable, perhaps even ahead ofi its time, but the fact it was so scattered made it hard to keep track. I love BIONICLE, I basically have a doctorate in BIONICLE Lore, but understand the barriers. So this video should be a godsend to newbies.

I got a bit into Bionicle two years ago, with buying about 30 kilo's for about $50 in two hauls. My aim was building MOC's with a complete new ruleset because of the 'difficult' parts. I was amazed lateron by the depth and complexity of the story behind it. I'm from 1967 and AFOL since 2008. Up until 2019 I neglected Bionicle completely.

I really hope you reupload this without the clip at 13:00; I understand maybe it'd be confusing out of context anyway, but still, "giant robot rising above the skyline" raises quite a few questions and is the type of thing to stick in your mind, so if somebody were to get into the story from this, they would probably have that image in the back of their minds and be wondering how and where it might fit into the larger narrative, which'll probably spoil the ending for them far sooner than intended anyways.

When I was a kid, me and my cousin had A LOT of Bionicle, but could never get into the story as english is my second language I only learned years later.
I am sad that most of the twists were spoiled for me bc of this, but I really love all the stories in this universe and love seeing it is preserved although Bionicle is discontinued sadly.

I was into Bionicle G2 only when I was on Class VI in the year of 2015, I am an Indian Bionicle Fan. I barely know about G1 though saw the G1 commercials not knowing it was the original. So, thanks to Bionicle Retold, I knew entire G1 lmao.😂😊
