Thanks for your help. Problem solved. Rebuilt the carb, replaced the carb, replaced the plug, and cleaned out the fuel tank. Still running rich. Checked the oil as you suggested. Crankcase was full of fuel..

It would be nice if you could show how the springs all go together and where they go, mine inadvertently slide off, and I'm not sure where they go

I just had a neigbor across the street put a 2005 Snapper Commercial, with a Kawasaki FJ180V-DS13-R, at the curb. So far, it looks okay, except for gaffer's tape holding the air filter cover on. I'm a complete amateur, wish me luck.

Maybe an old video but its certainly sounds familiar to my FJ180V Commercial. Starts brilliantly, but it hunts, has done for a fair while. Normally when engage blades it behaves, but now it hunts all the time, the hotter it gets the worst it becomes. So would you say new carb & change oil ? Cheers

I picked up a Toro Commercial with a FJ180V. It's the first time working on one. I figured replacing with a new plug, clean or replace the air filter and go through the carb. It starts for about 2 seconds and dies. Fuel line and valve look good. I cleaned the gas tank before doing anything. Fuel flows fine. I even loosened the gas cap in case it didn't breathe. Lately, on the smaller engines, I quit spending a whole lot of time on rebuilding these carbs and just replace them. This video supports my thoughts on the issue with rebuilding these carbs. Before ordering a new carb, is there anything else I need to check or do? Where is a good source for these carbs? Thanks, DB

I work on comm. toro 21s all the time but I have never redone a transmission on one I probably have about 40-50 transmissions laying around needing mainly 3gear fixed are they worth rebuilding? thx in advance joe from Fort Worth..Nice Vid

I’ve gone ahead and installed new carburetor as I had cleaned old one many times. Mower sits a lot and had begun running full throttle. Long story short after installing new carburetor engine still runs full throttle 😳moved governor arm forward to make idle down. Any ideas?? Springs are in proper spots I believe. I just have a newer geb one of these come in and it did the same thing and stumped me. I had spark, gas and everything checked out.

However I noticed the carb float and the valve would seem like they stick open and eventually let fuel flood into the crankcase. When I had smelled the fuel in the oil I forsure knew it was that

mine is leaking gas in the throttle connection area i may have hooked the cable and extended it to far now it won't throttle down thank you

You got a video of how all the cables and wires and levers go on the carb. My mum somehow managed to knock all the controls off and there’s loads of springs and cables off the carb don’t know where they all go. It’s the same mower as this one

Mowermedic1 . I have a question. One morning when I was ready to go work. I found my lawnmower leaking gas from the muffler. I clean the carburetor but it’s not run good. It’s the same lawnmower that you use on the video. Can help thanks.

Hey, Jeremy. Great video. I have this same model number and I'm wondering if you know how to increase the RPMs on this mower? Mine is working excellent but it running a little slow compared to the Hondas and Suzuki ones our company uses. It's the heaviest 21 I've ever used. Great mower though. Thanks

I have a Commercial Snapper lawn mower with a Kawasaki engine. My problem is that the on off switch is stuck in the on position but the lawn mower seems to not be getting gas, the engine starts with primer and continues to run as long as I spray a steady stream of gas primer then stops a little while after I stop spraying, it this on off stitch for gas a common problem?

Mowermedic - would you buy the fj180v over the gxv160 in a walk behind Toro? Honda is probably better built but Kawi has more power. Which would you choose?

Hi Jeremy. I just bought a Toro Commercial 22178 with the Kaw FJ180V that has this same problem of surging. I did notice on mine that the surge spring was not attached to anything so I attached it to where the throttle linkage is connected to. But once I start the mower I still get the surge. Should I try the carb cleaning and see if that helps.
