Nah. The 1000 dollar knife is around 270$ for the normal version. Lifetime warranty covers sharpening and if anything brakes 100% free….and that 30$ isn’t aluminum it’s cheap pot metal and LEAD! And the blade metal is unknown junk too.

I gave the one's I had away they wouldn't stay sharp for even a day, but my Ultratech has never needed sharpened not to mention never needed disassembled & cleaned just so it would work again like the lightning

The lightning is pretty good. If I could buy a micro tech I'd still buy one but that lightning sure does do enough for that price

I have both except I just have the normal ultratech and not the carbon fiber Damascus blade one. The lighting is way easier to fire and retract the blade, but the ultratech does feel really quality though. The ultratech skinned the hell out of my thumb when I first started using it but now I’ve gotten calluses. Idk if the ultratech is 10 times better than the lighting but it definitely is fun to fidget with

In most cases cheap knife is the way to go. You just don't want to be stuck in a situation where you really depend on a good quality knife and hope it doesn't break. $1000 is a little too much but 300-400 dollar good quality otf.

I have both. But I use my lightning more on days I go to work, house work and yard work. Because I don’t want to abuse my nice knives. And it gets the same job done as the Microtech without the guilt of messing it up

Ive never held the lightning but if you ever seen a video where someone has one it always rattles. You look up videos about knives and you only see relatively brand new ones. They rattle after a lil while which makes it seem soooo cheap. Spend 50-80 on one just a lil better

Microtech all day, there are fantastic Chinese products but they also cost a lot of money. This is a limited edition Microtech. You can get this same knife for $280-$350 everyday in a super steel, just not damasteel.

The lighting otf will dull after cutting maybe 20 cardboard boxes and will fall apart if you drop it more than 3 feet. You can buy budget knives without being that bad. 100 dollar knives are better budget knives

The regular version of the Ultratech is Around $275, with M390 premium steel. Microtech has lifetime warranty and free sharpening with highest fit-and-finish. The Lightning now has a better new elite version for $35, but it still pales in comparison in construction and materials (It’s more of a usable gimmicky knife).

Ultratech is the real deal, all other OTFs model themselves after it.

BTW: the Lightning is not Chinese, its made in Taiwan. Get it right dude.
