Peru Garnet Hill Crash Site Group Hike(1)

Saturday Group Hike at Peru State Forest up the old road past the fire pond built by the CCC to the plane crash site to give a moment of silence along with a reading of the Berkshire Evening Eagle broadcast of that stormy night August 15, 1942 and the fiery explosion. The sky opened up and downpoured on us right after the reading. We then continued another mile to the foggy summit of Garnet Hill at 2,175 feet. Four miles total, this hike was dedicated to all 16 military men who lost their lives.
