This battle was a nightmare for me until I found this, hope you don’t mind I took some of your tactics and walked away with a dub after re loading a save 20 times

I usually played this game on easy, i like to enjoy and learn games, i finally decided to move up to “normal” mode. I definitely play more careful - moving units into woods/cover and such. I felt i was doing okay till Antietam. No matter what i did - tried to hold the forest with the church.. full pull back and wait till second act, take way too many losses - even my 3 stars kept getting overwhelmed by the constant charge attcks by the AI. However This video’s strategy worked perfectly 😅

Have to ask: how do you have so many units at this point in the game? I am sitting on about 25k worth of guys with no guns to give them.

How do you get the enemy units to be so low? I tried to do this with 1300 men in each of my brigades and still have the enemy brigades to be 2200 and above...

Brilliant victory, but there's no way I could stand playing Antietam on 1/2 speed the whole time

Well, you promised me a piecemeal "ravaging" of the Union army and you delivered. Great job. Someday I would like to talk cavalry but I fully appreciate that you are uncomfortable with it and are playing to your style. Your style is working quite well so I would never argue against it.

Man when I fought this battle he tore into me in that opening period, and my arti was really chewed up by his counter battery fire, he had a lot of skirmishers that kept revealing my batteries, even the 3 star ones with the concealment perk, I had to keep falling them further back behind the main line just to keep them alive. I'm using the AI improvements mod, skirmishers are really horrible to deal with, the same with cavalry, as they seem to pass through my lines at will. This was a really nasty fight . I wept for my poor artillery.

Impressive full encirclement, especially getting the timing right since you face their reinforcements. I recall instead doing more of a swinging gate that clogs them into their reinforcement line and pins them to the river.

i need to try this tactic .. i normally stay in the woods by dunker church forming a fishhook to the left staying in the woodlines...

Due to your brilliant tutorial I eliminate all of their artillery in the first phase, and severly weaken the first wave. However, while I hold and do major damage to the second wave, the third is just too much to overcome. Eventually I cannot stand anywhere before being run over by 30k inreinforcements and thats with another 45k in reserve,

For the life of me .. I can not keep my losses down like you .. I went back and replayed it cuz I lose too many to finish the campaign ... try as I might it didnt matter ... Union 91, 615 Infantry ... Confed 58, 420 Infantry .... Union 68, 924 Infantry losses .. Confed 15, 075 Infantry losses ... 8, 793 Harpers captured ... and my lead cavalry unit scored 16, 454 kills with 179 losses ... wiped em out .. game ended with 1 hour left to spare ... but I just keep losing too many.

I had about 32k men for this battle on legendary. The enemy had about 92k men, so I could not hold it. I have won the precided battles also. What did I do wrong, how could the enemy have so many troops???
