I hate like hell to admit this but I just discovered Voivod about a week ago. I am blown away. Went back to earlier stuff and it's about as bad ass. This album is beyond belief for me. I am a bassist. Never famous but played a lot locally. I'm fucking happy to have some new music. Quite a lot to listen to and that's good.

Since its beginnings, Voivod has been playing a highly recognizable and unparalleled kind of sound. But over the years this sonic brand that these skilled Canadian guys have created does not prevent them from taking some risks, as a great number of Metal bands does out there. How a band over and over can generate albums of such high quality and never repeat them self are beyond my comprehension. Most bands can't manage two good albums in their short careers, yet Voivod have managed to get better and better from the first decade and well into their fifth! Since 1984 they have been a mainstay in the soundtrack of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I find it extremely heart-warming that the camera zooms in Daniel's Virus shirt, in various occasions. Voivod has certainly been the most obvious influence for Virus, but they have managed to transform the influence into a world of their own.
