going off of the numbers they gave us (which are slightly off but it's okay), one hand has 26 bones and one foot has 27, doubling that gives us 52 total hand bones and 54 total foot bones in one body. divide the total number of bones found by each of those numbers, 163÷52 and 286÷54, we get 3.13 and 5.29 respectively. given that we are limited by the smaller number of bones found (3.13 humans worth of hand bones), we can guess that the police only found 3 full skeletons, telling us that almost 97% of the skeletons were incomplete. of course, all of my math could be wrong.
