I was 11 years old listening to my Dad playing these records on his stereo system and loving it. I'm now 57. Hearing these songs now bringing me back to a really good time in my life.

I was a senior in high school in 1978, and dance the heck out of all these songs, which I still listen often in 2025. Super great times, stuck in the 80s!

1978 I was in junior high. All of these songs were hits at our school dances. Memories :) Thanks.

I was just two years out of high school and on the dance floor loving these songs!!! My parents were in Paris for the whole year and I partied down!!! It was a great time, much simpler with no cell phones or internet or social media. There was much more love and unity back then then 🥳🥳🥳🥳

Are all of these great dance songs? Probably not, but they were all great roller-skating songs.

Yes I do think they have the same magic today. I could not make a lot of room for it in my brain then because of too many other genres that were filling my mind. But it was great to see The Bee Gees back up top after re-inventing themselves as the kings of Disco. Good to hear a mention of Harvey Fuqua who back in the sixties was an unsung writer and producer for Motown, penning or co-penning hits for Marvin Gaye, Jr Walker and The (Detroit) Spinners, but was a nephew of Charles Fuqua of The Inkspots, very undisco.

All good songs, but I could never really dance to 'YMCA' (too much novelty, not enough disco), or 'MacArthur Park' ( too adult contemporary). A few that really filled the dance floor that year were 'You & I' - Rick James, 'In the Bush' - Musique, and 'Shake Your Body' - Jacksons.

More about what I was doing at the time than the songs. Most of this stuff only played on the jukeboxes in the bars and clubs.

I detested disco back in the day because it isn't rock n' roll and cannot be performed live; it is synthetic drek, a product with about as much soul and passion as a box of Cheerios.
