Alistair Begg tells us here that we are saved by Christ, not our good works, He uses the thief on the cross as an example. So, how is it that the thief, who started out insulting Jesus (Matthew 27:44), came to be saved?

Regarding the thief on the cross, J.C. Ryle said: “The unvarying character of repentance unto salvation [is] a point in the penitent thief’s story which is fearfully overlooked,” and Ryle mentioned six very important evidences of the thief's repentance:
1) He was concerned about his companion’s wickedness in reviling Christ;
2) He made a full acknowledgment of his own sin;
3) He made an open confession of Christ’s innocence;
4) He had faith in Jesus Christ’s power and will to save him;
5) He prayed,
6) He showed humility.

J.C. Ryle concluded by saying: “These six points should always be remembered in connection with the penitent thief. His time was very short for giving proof of his conversion. But it was time well used. Few dying people have ever left behind them such good evidences as were left by this man.”

ADDITIONAL NOTE

A “transgender” wedding is a homosexual wedding: 1) it violates Deuteronomy 22:5; 2) it violates Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Jude 7; Romans 1:26-28; and 3) it violates Genesis 1:27; 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Mark 10:7; Ephesians 5:31.

In that interview, Begg did mention that the grandmother had already told her grandson that she thinks homosexuality is a sin. Sadly, Begg then tells her to go to the gay wedding since the grandson already knows what she thinks of homosexuality.

Marriage is a picture of Christ and His Church. Faux marriage should not be celebrated with gifts or attendance. It shouldn't be hard to understand this. The only bridges worth building are the ones showing that your loyalty to Christ supersedes your loyalty to family and friends. It is better to forsake and be forsaken by all, even family, than to forsake and be forsaken by Christ.

Attending same-sex marriages only shows the world that your love for them is greater than your love for the Christ whom you claim to follow.

I pray Begg has repented of telling that grandmother she should support her grandson's sin (and that's what a gay marriage is: sin).
