The greater Portland area is in an affordable housing crisis. Many of the things that attract these wealthy people, like restaurants, will not exist in the same capacity in long term, if you cannot provide affordable housing for working class people. This is a serious issue all over the country. Many people are paying 50% of their income just on rent alone. At some point policy makers and investors will need to take this problem much more seriously.
