Sony ZV-1 4K Test w/ Cine2 vs S-Log2 vs HLG3

I know it's been done on other Sony cameras but...
Watch these unedited sample clips from the Sony ZV-1, straight from the SD card.
This location was very dark and loud from freeway traffic. Look how these profiles respond to the IKEA sign. Some do very well to not blow the highlights.
All clips were much less noisy before YouTube compression.
Look how saturated the HLG, HLG1, HLG2, HLG3 profiles are.
What profile do you like?
*** Watch in 4K with Chrome or Firefox.
Camera Notes:
ZV-1 24mm @ 1.8
ISO 640 @ 24 fps at 1/50
Manual WB @ 3200

*** I returned this camera shortly after this video posted. Mostly because I cannot shoot RAW images since Adobe doesn't currently support the ZV-1.

Thanks for this. The thing is - it depends on what you are trying to achieve. All need colour grading - the SLOG ones will look washed out directly, but you will have not lifted out the detail unless you have done a lot of work in post. BUT the requirements of shooting in SLOG are too onorous to me.
I have played around with this stuff a fair bit - so :
HLG is not meant to require too much post-processing - but to me - it looks "in your face". I wonder if it was meant for more impactful movies -it just does not look like what you would have seen with your own eyes at the time. Correct me if I am wrong?

SLOG - now that comes with a lot of baggage such as a lot of time in post, and puts restrictions on your shooting pre-requisites such as min ISO.
Cine 1 (BTW your clip title states Cine2 but I don't see that label), could be OK if colour graded.
This whole thing feels a bit like emperors new clothes to me. I have switched all Picture Profiles off on my Sony Cameras and have gone back to basics - so just expose correctly, and get the WB correct. You get amazing results just from that compared to shooting in these new fangled Picture Profiles. The cameras (well the Sony ones anyhow), are good enough to bring back detail from any profile (including Profile off) IMHO.
Just go our and take videos - with it OFF. It is gonna be totally amazing and no one will really notice the difference anyway!!
Just take good content.

We should note that if one is going to start using Luts you really should set your white Balance first... I run custom HLG3 and yes setting the white balance first will change the out come of the image.

HLG 2 and 3 seem great, and are easier to grade, but I hear Cine2 is a much easier file to work with in relation to you CPU/GPU capability. Maybe someone can provide insight to this? I've been experimenting a bit but have yet to come up with a definitive answer... My main point is... When the hell are GPUs gonna come down in price? :(

HLG (all 3) are the only one that does not show banding which is great!

ITU709 the most realistic for me and I like it the best, HLG's are obvious more exciting, but unrealistic, that said, I am just on an entry level 500 nit 8 bit LCD HDR TV

You can only see BJ's banner in log 2 and log 3 modes, and also you have underexposed them two. I prefer SLog2+SGamut3.Cine profile, Lutcalc is my friend also

How do you shoot in S-Log2? I have a Sony ZV-1 but cannot find the settings.

Very good performance from a relatively small sensor. HLG looks fine. However I am still emotionally attached to Panasonic system.
