Thanks Liam! The older I get the more it’s about contentment. I’ve always had low-grade anxiety but when I take a moment to breathe and think of just one good thing in my life then I feel that contentment. People often say, ”Look at the big picture”, as though that’s a comfortable position to take. I take a breath and think, “My kids are OK”, and then I’m OK.

Don’t have any kids? Breathe and think, “My rent is paid or I have enough food until I get paid”; my body is warm and it’s 30 below outside; this little nap is changing my outlook on the day… .” Happiness is fleeting and it’s different for every person, but no one doubts their own contentment. You’ll know when it happens to you.

If life is so hard that you can’t think of one good thing in the moment then take those long deep breaths and just listen to your environment without judgment. Let the primitive part of your brain take over. No sound is good or bad. If you hear something make a mental note of it and go on to find other sounds. You’ll be surprised how many different things you can hear.

Try this for a few minutes. Just breathing consciously and listening. Even if you have just a minute to practice this it’ll help. I think these methods should be tried in primary school and on up. It’s not a religious thing. It’s a stress-reducing thing.

I recently discovered that Liam will be starring in the new Naked Gun reboot/remake. That’ll be interesting seeing him in a full-on comedy. I can picture him doing Leslie Nielsen justice. He was hilarious on the show ‘Life’s Too Short’. “I’ve contracted AIDS… I’m riddled with it.” LoL
