I wouldn’t say this ticket is meant for long distance travel. But it comes in very useful for regular German people who already have and use a monthly ticket for their region. Because now when they arrive in a different town or travel past regional borders. They won’t have to buy an extra ticket anymore.

there is no mention here, that this is a subscription ticket, which auto renews on a monthly basis which you need to cancel by the 10th day of the month to stop the subscription. that is a very important omission.

I am traveling to Germany in about 2 weeks and called DB to confirm. Non-residents can get the Deutschlandticket from the DB office at the train stations with cash. The online purchase won't work due to a required address verification.

You forgot one kind of transportation that can be used with the D-Ticket: ferries. When they are part of the public transport system, like in Hamburg or Berlin, they are included in the ticket. One of the ferries in Berlin – the F24 or Paule III – is a rowing boat with space for 8 passengers.

I just came to Germany yesterday. Thanks for your video about this 49 Euro public transportation ticket. It would be a great help for me to explore around. 👍

For me it's €36 since my company is offering D-Ticket Job. That's unbelievable to think since I pay €85 per month just to travel within two zones in Düsseldorf. It doesn't even cover the whole Düsseldorf!

As for any long haul journey, ICEs still remain dominant because of course you don't want to get ultra tired or break your body out of say 13-14 hrs journey but once you reach a region via the IC/ICE/EC, the 49euro D-ticket gives you the ultimate freedom ! My only wish is, the trains won't continuously be late or cancelled like last year's summer ! That thing is frustrating for sure. But, I am happy that I'd get to see more beautiful german villages.

This will also help to promote local tourism so tourists see more than just Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin.

Since I‘m a student in Hamburg it actually only costs me 19€. I think it‘s really amazing especially considering that it used to be 30€ a month just for Hamburg and a few nearby towns.

Sounds great for people looking to do some extensive backpacking in Germany. I'll keep this in mind if I ever have the chance to do so.

I remember doing a similar venture in Poland on an extended holiday weekend with Polregio's 46 zł weekend ticket (then about 10 euro) and was able to travel half the country, staying at 1-star hotels. The whole 4-day vacation was under 100 euro total!

This is brilliant. But they should also make plans to increase the capacity of the public transportation network. In addition to tremendous environmental and social benefits, this will also save fuel, which is in short supply.

I've done Hamburg to Frankfurt and back using only RE's 3 times during the 9eur ticket :P, takes about 9 hours, but if all the REs are on time, its not a huge deal.

Most people have a subscription based ticket anyway which costs a lot more even if it is only valid in one city. So many people safe money now every month plus they could travel the whole country without extra cost.
