'Freedom is priceless' - EU Commission President tells the European Parliament

Ursula von der Leyen has praised European unity in the face of Russian aggression in Ukraine while addressing the European Parliament.

On moving away from Russian supplies of fossil fuels due to sanctions, she said that "investment toady, means more independence tomorrow".

She said that she knew that people across Europe were wishing for simpler times after the pandemic - but that the people of know that they must stand up against "cruel aggression".

I am from Poland. I've never been so proud of being in EU since our accession in 2004. I've been waiting for all these years for EU to understand our, Polish perspective of true Russia's intentions.
