I get it’s illegal to walk on the highway but what’s more important? A drunk driver or a person walking on the highway. The officer says they were taking a man into custody but don’t say what he was doing. Was he drunk or having a mental breakdown? I think that’s important information being that the officer was called to another location after he already made his stop

I moved to Austin Texas in 1996, after graduating from Iowa State with a Civil Engineering Degree. One of my professors warned us that many of us would work on road crews, and to ALWAYS be aware where we are as cars drove nearby at a high rate of speed. He said: “You are all in charge of your own personal safety.” One night, a trooper was stopping me on A LONG VIADUCT like the one in this news story. It was on IH-35. So I continued through so that we were off the viaduct, for the trooper’s safety. After I stopped, he walked up to my car and started screaming at me because I didn’t stop right away. I explained that I stopped after getting past the viaduct for his safety. He continued to scream at me. I wonder if he would have died that night if I had forced him to be walking on that viaduct, with nowhere to escape from a drunk or inattentive driver. No one, not Troopers or anyone else, should be out of their cars on one of those viaducts. If they are, they should have 4 or 5 TROOPER CARS with their lights flashing and BLOCKING OFF LANES.

I don't understand. They didn't do a blood test, breathalyzer or make her walk the line? 5 days later they look into her possibly being drunk? Huh?

These troopers pulled over the young lady who killed them earlier in the evening. REALLY. Even though she had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system they let her go. They're covering this up. It's the trooper's own fault for pulling favors. She must have known them or she is related to someone in law enforcement.

Highway patrol is the dumbest thing. Pull people over AFTER they exit.

More cops are killed by being hit by vehicle than guns. That just a pure fact. She will never be charged because this wasnt her fault. She was traveling in a lane for moving traffic. This happens all the time and people generally dont get charged. I love how they pushed her being drunk before any evidence was given. Thet should be mad at the guy walking down the interstate

I just got finished reading a story that reported the driver was a 21 y/o black woman who tested at twice the legal limit. And now get this:: The officers had actually pulled her over 2 miles back down the same road on suspicion of DUI, and had let her go to respond to the highway walker. ---- I wonder if they made the calculation that dealing with the walker would be less complicated than dealing with a young black woman screaming racism every 10 seconds. --- She's gonna get off with a very light sentence because her lawyer is gonna argue that the officers were at fault for NOT arresting her. And if these facts are correct they were at fault as well. Who poses a greater threat to the public ---- the walker or the drunk driver? Again, I read the story on another site. Who knows what's true anymore.
