I love how Megatron, beaten and close to death, is still committed to talking shit to the giant Planet Monster that's ready to kill him.

Megatron is the only being in existence who would meet Unicron on his death bed, be offered a new life and chance for revenge and STILL have the brass to ask for more. Absolute legend.

"I have already crushed Optimus Prime with my bare hands!"

"You exaggerate."

"Your bargaining posture is highly dubious."
I love this conversation. This is one of the best conversations between two villains.

I really liked unicron in this scene. He is calm always and somewhat polite but the sheer power in his voice makes you know that this isn't someone you want to screw with

I remember being 7 years old and opening a dictionary for the first time because a talking planet deigned to throw the word "dubious" at my ignorant ass and made me read.

The way Unicron speaks, so elegant and superior. It’s very commanding.

Fun fact: Orson Welles could barely talk when he performed this. He was in a wheelchair and they had to use a synthesizer to make his voice sound good. Unfortunately, 4 days later, he died. It's amazing that he performed all of this and the rest of Unicron's lines in about 2 hours.

"Then it pleases me to be the first!"
Aka, "I don't give a shit, I'm your boss now!"

This scene never gets old. It's so damn gripping and compelling. Even as a grown man I'm still blown away by the dialogue between these two.

You know what I like most about Unicron, specifically this version. With any other villain, Megatron could have expected some level of respect and/or fear towards him. But Unicron, through out their entire conversation, Unicron is completely unimpressed by Megatron. All his power, his conquests, achievements, history, they all mean nothing to Unicron. Even worse, I think Unicron actually got a kick of bursting Megatron ego:
"Then it pleases me to be the first", "You exaggerate", "the point is you're a fool". This is before Unicron threatened him with death. He did nothing to Megs, but took the great conqueror and effectively reduced him to bragging child. Now that is a villain.

We can all admit that the Unicron Melody is one of the best non-mainstream pieces of music in movie history.

It's ironic, but I think Orson Welles' rather dispassionate delivery of his lines actually added to the gravitas of Unicron by making him sound more aloof and detached from the characters he was speaking to. This gave him an innate confidence which made him seem that much more menacing. Everyone was beneath him and insignificant, he didn't even have to try to intimidate them, and made the few moments when his voice did raise a bit all the more frightening. It also plays in with his musical theme being so subtle and quiet, it just overshadows everything with a sense of impending doom, it doesn't have to be loud.

R.I.P. Orson Welles and R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy.

This scene is Damn near Shakespearean. Two of the best voice actors in history. RIP. Love it.

I love this version of Unicron. He sounds exactly like what he is... a powerful yet bored elderitch abomination of a diety... Much better than more recent versions of him who are either emotional arrogant fools or unthinking and animalistic...
