Driving around the world is no mean feat. Doing it in a 100-year-old Ford Model T car is a staggering challenge. That’s exactly what Dirk and Trudy Regter are attempting.

For those wondering, through the hard work of Dirk, the model T returned to the road again on the 21st of August 2017!

So Youtube just NOW suggested this?

*I would have LOVED to follow this back when it was happening!*

People called them crazy, I think you'd have to be crazy not to do this if you had the opportunity! So come on Ford, help these guys get back on the road!

For those wondering, the car was hit while being towed back from a leg of touring. It was on a trailer at the time.

I only just found this video. This man lives in my street. The Model T is still in absolute perfect condition. I talked to him about it for a while. They basically take their Model T anywhere and everywhere. It runs great, looks great and the owner is a very nice man. I often see it parked up around his house. Took pictures of it once too. I own a 1983 VW Beetle myself that I talked to him about. He loves it. We both share the same interest in old cars. Much respect to this owner for using his car for what it was meant for. Can't wait to see it again sometime.

Henry Ford also the co-inventor of back yard BBQ briquettes, hence the name Kings-Ford Charcoal. In the early days of the Ford company, the cars used a lot of wood and would have a lot of sawdust left over, Ford and a business partner figured how to to squeeze that sawdust into charcoal for back yard briquettes for outdoor cooking!

Seeing two people loving each other and sharing such an experience is something heartwarming. Fantastic! Hope they'll be able to finish their planned tour!

Every around the world video: greatest experience, exciting, new places, all that stuff.
There's never a word about where they get fuel, where they sleep, eat, and how they ever afforded it? And they always encourage you to go out and make a worldtrip. How do they imagine it, I'm mistified.

I love how this car is being used as it was intended rather than sitting in a showroom. Model T’s were simple, rugged, and reliable and made to tackle the elements and rough dirt roads of the time. Good to see this one still doing that after all these years

I'm glad you and your wife got out alive, but hearing about the crash is devastating. It's obvious how much you two care about the vehicle; it is practically a part of your family. I hope you are able to get it repaired and back on the road soon!

Amazing how cars were and how cars have become. With this model T you can crosscountry, offroad, have it cabriolet. Awesome ! Also reliable as hell !

Now that it is 2018, I would like to see some sort of follow-up video to find out what happened to them.

Any update? I'd like to see a long, in depth series about this trip. What an awesome adventure. It's also really neat that the man's wife is a part of the journey. That's a great partner.

A friend told me years ago about his club's trip to Indianapolis from St. Louis for the 100th birthday celebration. It took them several days due to the speed of the Model Ts and that many didn't have working lights so they had to stop early. They had to travel the state highways and not the interstate, so they hit every traffic light and stop sign between the two cities. They had a couple of trailers and trucks as support, plus many spares. A trip that friends of mine and I used to make in roughly 5 hours (in 55 mph days) and can be done under 4 hours today took them about three days to complete.
But he said he wouldn't trade it for anything.
This was an amazing adventure by this couple, to go that far, and to go that long.
