Maybe it was unpredictable to the local sheriff.... everyone else has been saying for years events like this will be happening more frequently.

It was NOT unpredictable. I know everyone can't evacuate however it was well tracked, and predicted accurately. I don't know why Americans don't take things seriously.

I call BS... They were predicting this would be doing exactly what it did as they followed it to landfall. These people who say it isn't predictable are really not paying attention.

Clearly government authorities pre-plan for this event and so far the response has been amazing. Rescue personnel were pre-staged in the Miami area and are either now at or in route to the devastated areas. Power has been restored to more than 70, 000 people already. Of course, there is a tremendous amount of damage to be cleaned up and storm surge is still an issue. The response though has been absolutely amazing. The threat is not over because the tropical storm is now in the Atlantic and gaining strength and will be aiming next for South Carolina.

this sheriff gets on tv and the first thing he says is our great governor ? this sheriff said nothing about the help he and others in Florida are reciveing from the federal government and got this help without asking for it. how does he know anything about lives lost in this storm. this is just another politician who happens to be the sheriff of lee county. i will tell you anyone who didn't evacuate in this is just plain stupid. i have lived here in Florida for 55 years now and it is amazeing how this happens in each and every one of these hurricanes.
