I've got a single part as my geometry of the fluid domain surrounding a body. The internal body has been isolated with a named selection. How can I section cut only the mesh while keeping the solid body within?

can you tell me how to select an element which is completely inside a 3d geometry ? After taking section cut, I am able to only view the interior element but not 'SELECT' it....If I try, only the outer hidden elements are getting selected...
