The problem with CrossFit as an organization is that they change things constantly. The lack of consistency is ridiculous! Remember how often the HSPU standards were changed? And this year, they are okay with half a*ed reps on a deadlift, but then change their mind in quarterfinals and give penalties like crazy. Consistency should be the key here! It so annoying to me that I can’t take this sport seriously anymore!

Sad! Upsetting! Not the right way to treat really hard-working, ambitious, honest athletes.

Love listening to your opinions paired with the athlete that you are. Very approachable for a beginner like me. Thank you for putting in quality time and not just creating click trash like a lot of ppl. You are incredibly athletic and knowledgeable; thank you.

At a certain point, the fault lies with the "instructor" not the "instructed". CF needs to "bullet proof" their guidelines better.

I agree the open should stay, but I’d like to see quarters go away and more live events to get to the games.

A worldwide ranking similar to tennis would be cool to qualify for the Games. You get points for winning some competitions, some points for your benchmark records and I don't know just some way to prove your level of fitness over a short period of time.

I def think it would be cool to have a sanctional part of the season. I think CF would need to ‘hold back’ a couple of qualifying spots. Then have a live last chance qualifier…that could be fun

Have a standard of submission for all QF tests, they should all be video IMO, if not at least the same requirements for all.

Also bring QF back down to top 10% or even top 5%, that would allow CF HQ to be able to focus on reviewing way less submissions rather than QF feeling like a low threshold low importance portion of the Games season yet still holding such significance with the major penalties knocking out games level athletes. Its like if they let everyday athletes compete in olympic qualifying events in say swimming or gymnastics.

I respectfully disagree with your point at 11:10. Whether higher scrutiny hadn't been done in the past by CF, athletes should do the workout to the highest standards. I don't know if a warning would have made a difference because athletes would have assumed they did everything correctly. Yes, maybe fewer complaints, but I think the results would have been the same, especially with more CF judges. Do athletes even look at the videos (slow down mode, etc.) to determine if their movements are done properly -- before submitting them? I like sanctionals if it's only for 2-3 spots worldwide.

The problem with CrossFit seems that they are taking the cheap approach. Instead of having centralized events they have decided to utilize cameras and internet Instead of creating an environment were all of the judges are trained properly, and shown the exact standard. I'm willing to bet that if you take the judges who reviewed the videos and seperate each one while judging the entries. Each judge will give different results. Sadly crossfit is destroying the sport by making the events remote. People go to watch a modern gladiator sport. To experience and feel the energy. They don't care to watch on a screen than find out that the leadership board will change based on select few, who use different angles to justify thier choices. This could be the beginning of the end for crossfit if they continue down this road. But what do I know, I'm just a consumer who votes with my purchases.

If there is an established behavior, an expectation of continuation has been created. There should be a notification of change, similar to any employer/employee or contractor situation. This is CrossFit's fault. I have less and less repect for the organization year by year.

s'what happens when you don't enforce standards forever and then suddenly make a 180 turn without a clear warning.

While one athlete’s season is over another athlete who did it better and deserves it moves on. Step ups are fine. It’s not the exercise. The judges are consultants. They’re there to give the athlete the best outcome based on their skill and execution. The video reviews are similar to instant replay or coaches challenges in professional sports. The score will either stand or it won’t. It’sa great system. People need to take personal accountability and do better!

Bring back 5 week Open, make it matter. Qualify a much smaller number to the next stage - 10% or 5% - which could be live, maybe straight to Semi-finals (Regionals) even. If video judging, judge on a single play-through at real-time, or trust your qualified, live judge to make the call. If not, ditch the role of the live judge altogether. Mix and match mass-participation QFs with serious competitor qualification is a disaster of inconsisteny. Just a money-grab.

The online competition format needs to be altered. I think you can probably keep the current Open format.

However, the Quarterfinals should be done as live competitions. Reach out to the largest affiliates across your region and have them host a 2-3 day competition where owners are permitted to use the QF registration fees to hire third-party officials.

This promotes CrossFit community engagement within the affiliates, drives business for affiliate owners, and facilitates a level of competition where lower tier athletes have the ability to compete against elite contenders.

The scoring is honored by the third-party officials and there becomes no need for video submissions or a validation period where HQ can choose when/if they want to uphold the standards.

Boom - problem solved.

Hmmm, the standards are there for a reason! I did WOD 1, looked at my video and saw that my step ups were shit, thats on me! I redid the WOD, no excuse ie Athletes are fatigued, doesn't cut it!

CrossFit can be a democracy you vote with your money and your membership.

It's just crazy that you can't look at your feet doing a step up, seems more dangerous.

CrossFit needs to have "off-season" comps (rogue, wza, Dubai), top 5 make it to the games automatically. Makes those competitions must see
