I’m terrified of going to hell. On the one hand I know it’s what I deserve but on the other I pray for Christ’s Mercy.

Thank you Ralph for not explaining the Pope away as something not to be concerned about. I think concern and intercessory prayer is needed. So nice to hear someone like you to give voice to my thoughts and my heart.❤

If hell is empty, then Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Ho, Nero, etc... all live happily now in heavens regardless 100 million innocent people they have killed and there is no longer need to be Catholic. Very sad...

Spot on Dr. Martin. I had a profound conversion experience 16 years ago in Medjugorje and can testify to the reality of hell. Jesus through Mary freed me from the bondage of sexual sins to save my marriage and my heart has been on fire since that conversion. ❤

The bar story made me understand finally how to talk to people who have fallen away. Thank you!

Act of Contrition:
Oh my God I am heartily sorry for having offended you. I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend you my God who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

We learn our faith as children. Most do not learn anything after that. So yes! Teach the children well.

Thank you Dr. Martin. As a recent convert, I do not seek scandal, but struggle to deal with that handed to me and my family by the Church authorities nearly daily. Very informative and edifying. God bless you and your ministry.

Thank you, so very much, for this talk today, and for sharing the link to your article in the National Catholic Register.

I am a convert to the Catholic Church from protestantism, specifically Lutherism.

I look back over my life, grateful for God’s faithful prodding me along, always providing for me, whatever I’ve needed to learn, He has made sure to provide whatever I’ve needed to help me understand what I need to know, whether it’s to warn me, challenge me, encourage me …

When a faithful priest offered to talk with me about being received into the church, which he did on Christ the King Sunday, 11/22/2015, I knew I was coming into the church not because of Pope Francis but in spite of him, since there have been things he’s said, from early on, that have troubled me.

Also troubling since the early years of this pontificate, have been the knowledgeable Catholics who have felt they must “explain” to the rest of us why what I heard him say, wasn’t really what he said or meant to say. Often blaming the translation to English or how a reporter reported what was said.

I’m sure my look was often similar to this: 😳 and my reaction was: “really? Are you serious?”

It’s been exhausting.

There are just too many troubling things he has said, and the people he keeps close to him, good grief.

… perhaps I would do better to not pay such close attention to what goes on 😉 but in today’s world, with the way “information” is shared so easily, it’s pretty hard not to see what’s going on.

Years ago, I decided to buy a used catechism for $2.00 at “book fair” for a charity fundraiser at work, about 15+ years ago. I was still a lutheran when I bought it and I started reading it. It definitely played a big role in my “journey home” to the Catholic Church. I’m grateful to have this precious resource that clearly explains exactly what the church teaches.

… still my heart is often troubled by what Pope Francis says and does not say.

I have not wanted to pray for him, knowing with my head I need to do this, I am guilty.

It’s hard not to be upset with him.

Thank you for this teaching today, and for your other teachings that remind me to keep my focus on my need to be faithful, repentant, and trusting of Jesus.

I know, no matter what is going on around me, I will find peace in Christ.

Thank you for encouraging me to be ready and willing to share with others, the reason for the hope that is in me.

I pray for you and your ministry.

Thank you so much, God bless you.

As a catechism instructor for quite a number of years at the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, i find your delivery on this subject most succinct, direct and inspiring.
Really hope other catechists can spare time to watch ur video which is most relevant to our present day Catholic Church.
I really like your message to the distraught Irish gentleman at the pizza bar.

Dear Dr. Martin, thank you so much, so much for offering clarity. It’s very frustrating to be a lay person that, although not anywhere near a theologian, knows their Bible pretty well and understands the basic teachings of Catholicism, listen to the things this pope says!!! I hear few leaders willing to offer any solid perspective on these confusing statements, from the beginning of his papacy.
