1. You can’t de-board an international flight without customs.

2. It’s a the pilot discretion on if the destination of arrival is or is not safe. I’d rather spend my night on an airplane than die in a plane crash.

Props to the pilots and ATC. It was a sucky experience for the passengers. But I’d rather be miserable for a night than dead.

I’m with Delta on this one. The flights were diverted because of weather. Second, planes only carry enough fuel for the destination and some additional fuel for diversion. Crew did the right thing.

The same happend at a flight from egypt to kalliningrad.

The flight had to touchdown in Warsaw, Poland because of bad weather, and the airport refused to serve them.

The passngers spent 10 hours on the plane with little to no food

Some of these guys in the comments act like hail isn’t one of the most dangerous weathers for planes.

Ice on the landing strip can cause the plane to slip and crash. Ice can damage the plane’s engine if it gets lodged incorrectly.

No ones taking the risk of landing a plane in those conditions. They did what they could and I applaud the pilots for their hard work.

I’m surprised that Delta handled this so poorly. I’m a loyal Delta customer.
