I quit strava

I simply can't be bothered with Strava anymore.
I hurt and sweat when I've ridden hard, I check the time to see how long I was out and if I REALLY want to know how far I rode I'm sure I can work it out.

Riding push up tracks and seasoning runs means its become pointless other than seeing how slow I am compared to others and highlighting potential secret trails and runs.

So its bye bye Strava. ........

I continue to use Strava as a private profile with no subscribers. I'm just recording for myself and that's it. And I cycle 7000 km in a year. Strava is toxic, someone told me I go too slow, many anonymous "champions". Strava is ok, but without the social part.

Strava means absolutely F'all to me from a social media/kudos/competitive/KOM point of view.
I use it as a personal record of how far I have ridden, how long I was riding and estimated calories burned. That's it!
It wouldn't bother me at all if no one followed me on it.

A nice feature with Strava was equipment list, so you could add and remove stuff, and know how long you have used it. Was nice for reviews of stuff I guess.
I use Trailforks, I use it to record rides, nice to know where you are if you ride a new area or explore, I like that I can see POI(points of interests, like huts, WC, drinking water, repair stands, benches and so on), see trails on the map click on each trail and more. Strava is useless for navigation. And premium features were useless, maybe why they increased price and made more thigns premium.

I don't actually use Strava, my Garmin is linked to it so it uploads it automatically, i only use Strava to judge myself but i can see your point, i think we will get to a point where we will bin all social media because we all can't be bothered with it.

Yeah, i got beef with Strava. Truth is, I'm not very competitive (i do like winning, but it's not important 🤣) I'm currently paying, but I can't even check how my (downhill) ebike ride time compared to me on a non ebike (I'm fairly sure the ebike has no speed advantage on a downhill). The sections don't even tally up between eebs and bikes. I could, of course, compare the same time on a super light carbon road bike v a hefty old mountain bike: that's perfectly fine 🤯🤣 And now I hear the councils are using Strava data to plan/police/plot the incoming 15 minute cities...

Convince me I should be using Strava? Go on...

Very good explanation of the pointlessness of Strava for people like us. By which I mean non-competitive amateurs.

I ride to feel free, and riding without data allows maximum freedom.
If I'm analysing data I feel like I'm at work, or need to be better. That's not enjoyable.
Also as you mention all the pointless thumbs ups.
I don't need that.
Feeling fit and looking healthy is all the thumbs up I need.

Strava forces you to keep thinking about riding even when you aren't.
It lingers on the mind.
No disrespect to cycling, but after a ride I want to give my full attention to other things.
