It's still super unfortunate that Joy Luck Club is still held up as a relevant piece of Asian American literature when throws Asian and Asian American men under the bus in an era where we should be past those tropes. JLC was important in it's day due to it's all-Asian cast/story, but we need to move past this book and highlight better representations of Asian men and a greater diversity of Asian people (not just oppressed women who are supposedly saved by white men).
