The reason why no pastor will run for office is because it would be a waste of their time, talents and gifts. A good honest Christian pastor is fixated on one thing, spreading the gospel. Their fixation is with preparing you for the life that truly matters, the afterlife. They know that while they might be able to influence people to a certain degree, they will not have the same freedoms that they have within the context of what they do. They know that becoming president will mean that they will have to compromise on the word of god and be careful with what they say or don’t say. Patrick’s heart is in the right place, but pastors know that the gospel needs to be spread freely and openly with no limitations. Now to Patrick’s point, a good GOD fearing man who encourages all of the values and commitments that Patrick is referring would perhaps be a better fit. Pastors, genuine pastors want no part of the world. Making America or the world for that matter better is not going to make a difference in terms of the things that are to come and it isn’t going to provide the soapbox that we assume President “Pastor” is going to have in this dirty wretched world.
