(Audio Compression) Compressor Settings On Vocals | How To Hear Vocal

Показать описание
Fab Dupont demonstrates how to hear vocal compressor settings. They are explained in a way that only Fab can do. In this blind taste test, learn how to listen for audio compression. Don’t look, listen. Inform your taste for your next recording. Compression on vocals keeps them steady, forward, and places them where they should be in the mix.

This video will provide you guidance about what to listen for when using a compressor. It will also help sharpen your critical listening skills when trying for that transparent Pro vocal sound.

This was super helpful. I have to learn to listen better. Thanks Fab

I preferred the new settings, but wouldn’t have guessed the attack setting was what changed.
Old sounded more intimate, but new sounded more emotional

Dude! Awesome video. Would you mind sharing your compression settings for simple vocal for talking head type of videos? I need a baseline. Thanks so much!

Just finished watching this tutorial I was expecting a good tutorial but it was better. sometimes you need someone to explain to you what to listen for even though I use compressors everyday lol. That's why we need teachers children #alwayslearning

I thought it was an auto gain compensation or something similar in this DAW plugin (listening on far field 2-way speakers at low level). However the attack length didn't surprise me. Thanks for reminding that it has such an effect on the vocal transients' peaks and nuances. :) I really like how Fab explains things.

Darn! I knew it was the attack, but I thought it was the opposite! Was the 2nd setting louder in volume? It sounded closer and more detailed to me. I'm wearing headphones (Sennheiser HD650) - would that affect hearing "front-back" differences in the attack? Thanks!

i have few questions, why are you compressing ? why are you using that specific compressor only ? how did the select the ratio ?

Thought it's either shortened attack or increased knee.

Its too subtle to matter. Sholdve been way more drastic for learning purposes

So you have to listen very closely to hear the difference of these....okaaay. How is that making the end production better? He doesn't explain what he believes we should be hearing, or why we'd want that. Why do want the vocal to move slightly backward or forward? Seems like a lot of analysis for a minor change.
