Lucy and Kim talk career success in rail - International Women's Day 2022

This International Women’s Day we spoke to project managers Lucy and Kim about their career success in rail and engineering.

“What I love most about my job is the challenges, everyday is different. I think more could be done to encourage young people, especially females into the industry – engaging at a young age and showing the diversity of roles from project management to engineering is paramount.” – Kim

“When I first came into the industry it was very male dominated and that’s certainly changed, in particular over the last ten years. I’ve seen the teams become much more mixed and diverse. Women coming into the industry can come in and be themselves and come in under their own terms. I’m not sure it was always like that. I think when I was young I probably tried to fit in too much – be yourself, what you’ve got to offer is just as valuable as anybody else, it doesn’t matter that it’s different.” – Lucy
