Top 10 Must-See Greek Islands

For this list, we're looking at the Greek islands that have something a little extra to offer visitors - or a bit of everything at the same time.

Yes, Greece. Ahhh what a tranquil land. It's my favorite in the world. What can you say. This video alone shows why it's paradise, but anyone of the viewers who have been to any other place in Greece and also on the mainland, they know how absolutely stunning the country really is. I mean. Too many islands that are utterly breathtaking that have not mentioned in this list. And the entire mainland is 80% mountains offering breathtaking views everywhere you go. But then also incredible beaches, nature, history, culture, food and diversity of any kind. So basically Greece = 6000 islands AND a mainland that consists of 81% of Greece's total geography. And while the most popular islands take the most advertising, Greece's lesser known islands are equally divine, and Greece's mainland as well. But what I love is that I can travel in Greece on both the islands and mainland and have all the diversity and never ever getting bored. My kind of land!

Been to Zakynthos twice, its paradise, the water so clear and turquoise, not over priced and great people. Hoping to visit another island soon. Beautiful Greece 💕💕

As a greek that has been to most of the islands and seaside villages, here's my rank:
1 Santorini ( the most picturesque views, beaches are 8.5/10 but people there are mostly rude)
1 Zakynthos. (10/10 beaches and food, it has experiences for everyone aand 4 days are not enough. Its an amazing place😍)
1 Mykonos ( amazing chora, picturesque, with the best beach being rineia and Agios stefanos, one of the least crowded ones)
2 Parga(seaside village, extremely picturesque and very romantic, you transport around beaches with taxi boats that cost around 5 euros! Very nice and polite people)
3 Ios ( by far the best beaches in Cyclades islands, people are polite, for a reason is full of australians, very good bus transportation)

4 Paros (nausa is the place to be and live there and punda the best beach!)
5 Lefkada( all beaches look like a pool, but if you only take 2 steps in the beach your feet arent touching the sand no more)
6. Crete (huge island, need multiple days to explore, some beaches are spectacular and it has some of the best food in the whole country, with the dishes being HUGE, also dont make anyone from there angry, they have their own gun rules )

Great video and I'm glad Crete came top. A top tip for those visiting Crete would be to go to the Lasithi Plateau way up in the mountains. It's incredible and it has its own climate and culture, unlike anywhere else on the island.

Crete is my favourite. There are many more for that top 10, but yes.
It's incredibly hard to make a top 10 with a nation with 16000 km of the
most crystal clear seas. Let alone talk about what the most beautiful
area's are when Greece is a collection of paradises all around, all
unique and different. And I talk about the mainland as well as the
islands

The one people can not deny is that Greece has the best beaches in the world, not Croatia, Philippines or Italy... they might not have the best economy... but it is getting better and it will be stable by 2050 best food, best history, amazing place - the others good though too, just get too much attention.

The best Greek islands are the ones you just discover and it feels like no one else knows about them. Been to many islands and also mainland destinations over the years but we also did 2 weeks island hopping by ferry in 2002 and my favourite was AntiParos - a tiny island next to Paros. We were so enraptured by the place we spent nearly a week there. I want to go back next Summer and discover more. 💕 🇬🇷

Great video, however I would have liked to have seen Rhodes higher than a honorable mention. Its a truly incredible island with a great old town and harbor. Not to mention the good fun to be had in Falaraki and the history to be seen at Lindos in the south of the island.

In my opinion Rhodes should have been in the top 5 at least. It has it all. The beautiful diverse beaches, old town, beach clubs, new town, various villages and cities, port, and others.

Beautiful place. And while on Rhodes, I wanted to do everything. I wanted to eat everything before me. I wanted to see everything. I learnt some Greek and still learning. Above all, Greeks are very hospitable people.( I mean it). It was a home away from home.
