Apparently I watched this movie 7 years ago today when it came out on 10/16/09. Saw my post about it in my memories section on facebook. It had me feeling nostalgic so I came here to watch the trailer. The fall of 2009 was a great time for me. Wish I can go back to that time.

The story ‘Where the wild things are’ has lived in my head for as long as I could remember. Although I hardly recall being read the book in class as a kid or even the movie, it somehow stuck with me and I constantly thought about it. And after years of neglecting these random thoughts, I finally decided to search up the trailer and simply watch it. Man, I never could have dreamed of the feelings it brought back to me. All the emotions of being a child full of wonder and awe, lost in a scary world but still somehow always optimistic, it did something to me.. I shouldn’t have neglected these feelings, and I won’t ever again, I’ll now always remember where the wilds things are.

Been a while since I watched this film. Seeing this trailer reminded me of how psychologically in-depth the film is. Hearing Gandolfini's voice reminded me of The Sopranos, and actually what's funny is that this film is basically like a Sopranos dream sequence. Sure it's more fantastical and bombastic but actually the film tells you a lot about the kid's psyche and the emotions and feelings he is  experiencing; his fears, his guilts, his desires all manifested in his experience on that island with those monsters. I wish all kids films would be like this.

I saw this in the theatre at a very vulnerable time. I was 20, working at a dead end night job, my mom had moved away and I was very lonely. I really felt a lot of what this film had to say. It's been a very long time, I think I should see it again.

This is definitely among the top movie trailers of the last decade and the film it's self is stunningly beautiful and way overlooked. I have now idea how he did it, but Gandolfini managed to bring a great deal of heart and emotion to his voice performance in this film and he was one of the reasons why this film was so great, just like in many of his other projects. RIP, you will be missed.
