Samsung Gear 360 Camera

The Samsung Gear 360 is the company's first consumer camera that shoots 360-degree photos and videos. It shoots with two super-wide lenses, and users stitch the images into a sphere with a desktop app or on a Samsung Galaxy S7 before uploading them to Facebook or YouTube. The Gear 360's footage can be viewed on any phone, or even in headsets like the GearVR or Google Cardboard.

Its really cool how it live streams as well. I just hope that a future iteration will be stereoscopic as well as have a higher megapixel count and much higher video quality and frame rate since both of those are necessary for vr film making.

What happened to the 360° video option that used to be on the samsung 7s called virtual shot. They took it off their phones after that model, must have been in order to produce this camera.

Am just curious on how easy it is to use this camera standalone without a phone with 1 hand for photos? Because the shutter button is on top of the globe. I must imagine that it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to hold the camera and take photos. Just comparing this to the design of the Theta S and LG 360 Cam. If there is a way to overcome this, do share.

When are we going to start seeing 360 cams built into smartphones? That's actually a scary thought. But I feel like everything is pretty much in place for it already. Just need to put the same camera on both front and back and figure out the lens/sensor geometry.

I've managed to get my hands on a Samsung Gear 360 camera but there is no unwrapping software provided yet (that I can find). Does anybody know what tools are available to unwrap this type of 360 video? I imagine Adobe can do it but I'm hoping there is something simpler!
