The Komodo dragon, also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. It is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres (10 ft) in rare cases and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms (150 lb). Recent research suggests the large size of Komodo dragons may be understood as representative of a relict population of very large varanid lizards that once lived across Indonesia and Australia.

Komodo dragons are carnivores. Although they eat mostly carrion,] they will also ambush live prey with a stealthy approach. When suitable prey arrives near a dragon's ambush site, it will suddenly charge at the animal and go for the underside or the throat. It is able to locate its prey using its keen sense of smell, which can locate a dead or dying animal from a range of up to 9.5 km (5.9 mi). Komodo dragons have been observed knocking down large pigs and deer with their strong tails.

I came here twice, being in this place is really like being in Jurassic Park in a movie. The underwater views is wonderful.
Komodo dragons are endemic ancient reptile species that have lived since ancient times. The evolution of the Komodo dragon began with the genus Varanus which began to develop between 40 million years ago. Komodo dragons are close relatives of dinosaurs. This is seen from the discovery of fossils from certain types of dinosaurs that show similarity in body structure to the Komodo dragon. Dinosaurs have long been extinct but Komodo dragons still exist today. Komodo is called the last dinosaur in the world. Animals that were once with dinosaurs are known as carnivorous lizards, but they are also cannibal animals because sometimes they prey on their children. Komodo (Varanus komodoensis) is the largest type of lizard.
The largest Komodo dragon ever has a length of 3.13 meters and weighs 166 kilograms. Komodo can be found on Komodo Island and surrounding small islands. The original habitat of Komodo can only be found in the Indonesian archipelago and not in other parts of the world.

I know this isn’t so new but it was new to me. I feel like whoever wrote the lines about the Komodo in the intro were not knowledgeable about the animal and in fact said several false statements.

One false statement was “Komodo dragons, living dinosaurs”. False, Komodo dragons are reptiles and not descended from sauropod or therapod dinosaurs. Another false statement was that Komodo dragons are the only venomous lizard. That is false in two ways: Komodo dragons have a bacterial “poison” in their mouth and it is not organically physically generated like a snake “venom”. It has poison and not venom. The other half of what makes that statement as false is the actual fact that the Gila monster, a wholly unrelated type of reptile that was a world away, is the only venomous lizard as it produces venom from glands. I’m sure their were more but the main issue is Natgeo, a pillar of learning, integral to my development, could allow such falsehoods to be stated unchecked. I am an amateur at best and it was blinding how obvious they were.
