The best part about this ending to me is just as Chiron finally accepts himself, little Chiron looks back at the audience inviting them to do the same. So powerful.

His innocence is looking back. The child is healing.

The last shot of Chiron and Kevin is so fucking powerful. It shows so much about both of them. This whole chapter of the movie, they were putting up an act. They were acting like different people to fit in with their surroundings. In that moment they were themselves for the first time since they were kids. Beautiful.

Everything that happened to Chiron culminated to this one definitive moment. Confronting Kevin and finally telling him "you're the only man that's ever touched me". There's a double entendre there. He means it literally and figuratively. And the part that made it perfect was the look Kevin gives him. That little smile was like a sigh of relief. The look that says "I'm proud of you" more than words than say. He had to have been so glad that Chiron was able to come to terms with who he really is. It was what Kevin was trying to bring out of him since they were kids. Couldn't have been a more perfect ending than this one. This movie gives you the right amount of emotion without being crass or pretentious. Everything was done with taste. A riveting, beautiful, powerful film.

Him turning at the camera at the end is finally him embracing Juan’s words in the house one day “Don’t sit with your face turned against the door. Then you won’t know who’s coming in and what’s going on.” Little looking at the audience at the end is taking Juan’s words, embracing the fact that anyone can come into his life now. And he’ll be ready for it.

Trevante is one great actor. I thought he would've been in more movies. His mannerisms, the way he avoids eye contact, lips quivering

The final shot of Little Chiron in the moonlight is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in a movie. It's not only very well made, but it's also so meaningful, seeing the innocense of a kid coming back after making peace with himself and finding his true indentity. Juan would have been very proud.
Moonlight is indeed a masterpiece

What people don't understand is that this movie is not about the gay culture or about the gay lifestyle. This movie is about two people finding themselves and finding happiness after a lifetime of hardship and a struggle with their identity. It's about finding beauty in this often ugly and painful life that we have to live, even if only for a moment. Everyone can relate to this movie. What a work of art this movie was. I was amazed when I first saw it at how powerful it was. Definitely deserved Best Picture.

I wish I could see this scene for the first time again, it was beyond intense, in your face "You are the only man that has ever touched me", I think I stopped breathing, what incredible direction in this scene especially and the whole film of course as well.

"Your the only one." I love the way Chiron says that.

Probably the most powerful line in the whole movie. No one can ever explain the emotional power another man can have over you whether its physical or mental. And no one can really understand how it feels. I relate to this scene so much because there's someone in my life that Ive had a relationship with but we no longer speak. But no other man has had such an affect on me like he has.

Chiron getting out of the car and keep looking into the beach and the violin playing in the background. My favorite scene in the movie.

I was watching this with my mom, and we both just felt so moved by the shot of them just hugging.
Nothing passionate like a sex scene or even kissing.
Just the innocence of holding each other, quietly.

It was all that we needed. It was all they needed. Chiron looked at peace with himself and with Kevin.

This is seriously one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a movie theater was this film. There was a group of Black men and women together (probably a date night) and they laughed at the following scenes:

- when Chiron asks if he’s the f word
- the dream Chiron has of his friend
- right after Chiron says “You’re the only man that’s touched me

Your heart has to be black as coal if you found any of those scenes funny. I’m a former Marine (now retired) and this movie makes me cry every damn time, without fail.

This movie totally re-ignited my passion and desire to get back into acting. This scene in particular was so inspiring to me. Not only was the meaning behind it so beautiful, but the way Andre and Trevante executed it was just perfect. To be able to put that kind of meaning and emotion into a scene like this is so inspiring to me and reminded me what a skill acting really is and how much I’d love to be a part of something so important. This will forever be one of my favorite scenes in on of my favorite movies of all time. Moonlight is a masterpiece 😍

So much is asked of Trevante Rhodes here, yet he somehow manages to perfectly deliver one of the most impactful final lines in modern cinematic history. The story of this man's entire life, and here is the moment, right at the closing of the film, where he does the bravest thing any human can ever do - he finally reveals himself with total vulnerability to another human being. Depsite everything he's been through forcing him to keep a barrier up. The bravery of the character to do that. The skill of the actors, director, writer, cinematographer, and the rest of the creative team, to express it like this on the screen. Outstanding.

man people don't talk about trevante Rhodes enough. even tho he doesn't look very similar to either of the other actors that play Chiron he still embodies him so effortlessly with the mannerisms and dialogue and way of speech. even with the tough looks he's still the same nervous introspective kid on the inside
