Group OTYKEN goes to a new level! Siberian indigenous music band plays rock and roll! This music video was filmed in a small village in the Krasnoyarsk Region. Only one person lives there in the middle of a dense forest, on the banks of a navigable river! Our mystical throat singing, special elemental vocals, enchanting sounds of vargan (jaw harp), khomys, morinhur, leather drums will take you to the wild, northern thickets of the Siberian taiga.

In this composition, we combined elements of Rock N Roll, Blues, R&B, Pop Rock and Siberian Folk. KHAN BLUES tells about the homeland and its significance in a person's life. We are inspired by the Siberian expanses, nature and the history of indigenous peoples. This song is dedicated to all the people who are in a foreign land and strongly miss their home.

We also pay tribute to the rich culture of Rock N Roll and the artists who inspired us to create KHAN BLUES. Thanks for the cultural exchange! We really like to experiment with new genres of music, we hope you enjoy it!

NB: Please note that the Khakass folk string instruments are connected to the distortion in order to provide an electronic sound. We have made this combination for the first time.

The OTYKEN group includes the indigenous peoples of Siberia: Chulyms, Kets, Selkups, Khakass and Dolgans. Our multinational collaboration creates a unique and inimitable sound of music. The culture of our ancestors is closely related to other Turkic peoples, the Japanese Ainu and American natives.

Otyken is pure fun, along with cultural expression. They're getting better as they continue. I wish them global success. (PS: For the record, I'm continually correcting on line sites and comments that erroneously say Otyken is Native American. Anyone that can search on line can easily learn that Otyken is from rural Siberia, not America. As a native Texan, I admire, respect Otyken, what they represent, their ancient culture).
