Do you reckon alterations and updates to the cabin maybe? Wood rot over 60 years has to be a factor? Not sure why they would go to all the trouble of a sound stage when they have it all at hand in the real thing?

Awesome detective work, Billy & Trey. Loved the vid. Also really like Kid Galahad...not a bad Elvis flick...Still early in his post Army days so the formula is still working. I'm glad the "lodge" still exists...but....I was really kinda hoping more of the land used for filming still existed as it was back in 1961. Doesn't really much look like a lodge anymore...but like I said, glad the house exists. So many Elvis locations have gone by the wayside these days. Idyllwild is such a beautiful place. Hi Spa Guy and Trey, I really liked your microscopic detail about this filming location compared to a soundstage. I think it's very likely that Hollywood would have built something similar because of time restraints and expense of filming on location all mounts up. Also I think it's quite possible that some timbers rot over time or become diseased and have to be replaced and I think that's what's happened here. I wanted to ask you a question about Graceland. Ashley Drew posted a new video called
Graceland Then and Now 1980's Secret Graceland # 45 in it there is a photo taken of the top of the main staircase which features Priscilla, I noticed that the main staircase has recently been painted from the natural wood to a horrid white and gold Hollywood update. Do you think these alterations should be done when its not how Elvis would have seen it when he was living there? It makes no sense to me at all. Thank you for a very detailed report. Take Care.
