It also took roughly 30 games for Hutson to finally have the opportunity to quarterback the powerplay instead of Matheson. You could conservatively add 10 more points if he did from the start, if not more, which would put him right up there with most points by a rookie defenseman in history.

As a Habs fan, thank you Jesse for a wonderful tribute on Lane Hutson who is an incredibly finesse player and is a humble great guy as well ! Love your informative and passionate videos! 🏆🏆🏆

Was watching the game tonight due to the implications for the Leafs also because of the tension from their game the other night and holy cow that was a wicked ending. I can't believe I'm saying this as a Leafs fan... thanks Habs!

You can’t deny what Hutson has been able to do on a rebuilding team as a defenceman. He has made history, surpassing Chelios and Lidstrom.

Not to be underestimated, he is currently playing on his OFF side. Meaning he is on the right despite being a lzft D, because the habs are too thin on right D.

It's crazy when you realize Hutson wasn't on the 1st PP until late November... 7th best rookie defenseman in NHL history with 8 games left to play. The Calder Trophy race is over.

For me the clincher is the fact that he's producing while facing top lines from other teams

I’m a bruins fan but I’ve been watching lane for 4-5 years now he’s a stud, sucks we’re going into a retool now that the habs are getting better would of brought that rivalry back but we shall see what happens this off-season, but Hutson is a stud looks like the next great NHL dman

It's about more than Lane's incredible points, it's the fact that he has an impact on the game, every time that he's on the ice! He is a game changer!

If Hutson played for any other team, the focus would be on the FACT he is a Defenceman with those points. Even if he was 10-20 points behind the top forward scorer, the argument would be that a D man getting those points counted for more. Habs hate by most journalists shows their bias, but NOT Jesse!!

Hutson went 62nd at the very end of the second round. Tied with Cale Makar in assists for 7th place What a steal! Couldn't be happier for the kid!
Go Habs Go! 🏆🔥🏆

His XGA since four nations is also surprisingly among the top D in the league. High IQ

lol Leafs should be thanking the Habs for more than just tonight beating the Panthers. The Habs have swept the season series 4-0

62 points in 74 games, 57 assists, tied with Cale Makar for league lead among dman. 4th overall in defense points, Hutson is among the best dman on the planet, Michkov and Celebrini are nowhere near that when it comes to comparing to star forwards. Habs are in a playoff hunt as the favourite for last wildcard spot and without Lane Hutson I think there is absolutely ZERO chance that is happening.

Can I just add Sam Montembeault to the conversation? I know Hutson has been unbelievable, but (as a former goaltender) I can see how strong his game is. And St. Louis: if you saw the end of the game last night, he doesn't just walk away from the bench like a businessman. He stayed right there to celebrate, big smile. Coach as team player.

As a Habs fan I had high hopes for Hutson and he has not disappointed so far, kid’s a stud. Only thing I worry about for him is physicality because he is pretty short compared to other players and only weighs like 165 lbs I think. Playoffs are tough on the body, so we’ll see If he can stay as effective in a physical style of game.

I had an argument with a Habs fan (myself a Bs fan) at the beginning of the season who thought Hutson belonged in the AHL, that he hasnt proven anything yet, too small, too soft, etc. I was very conservative when I claimed I could see him easily hitting 40+ points in his rookie season. :) Well technically he did. :) The talent was so obvious.

The fact that Hutson is such a young defenseman that is so integral to his team, whom is close to making the playoffs, and he is outscoring talented forwards is crazy. Even if Cellebrini never missed games and had more points, you gotta give it to Hutson.

If CGY made the playoffs that would be a tough decision between him and Hutson.
