When Reinhardt’s friend told him to “Be your team’s shield.” that’s the huge feels moment! Because that line “Don’t worry my friends. I will be your shield!” is one of Reinhardt’s most used lines in the game.

When Reinhardt charges off into enemy lines, if you listen closely you can hear all the support players of the world throw up their hands in resignated unison.

After that cut back, him standing there old and full of scars. “I have been called, I must answer”… The regret, the guilt, the weight of this… like self imposed sense of duty, almost punishing. It sounds like a man always trying to make up for past actions but never forgiving himself, never allowing himself to have peace.

Little piece of trivia. Balderich throwing one of his hammers is a nod to Reinhardt's original design. They initially gave him the ability to throw his hammer to strike ranged targets, but would have to then retrieve it, and that left him unable to actually defend himself if he wasnt able to get his hammer.; so they changed it to swinging his hammer and sending a gout of flame at his enemies instead (like the Crusader in the Last Bastion short)

This trailer is actually amazing because its major character development. In his youth, Reinhardt was your cliche reckless solo maverick type character always trying to wrack up the solo points.
But his recklessness finally caught up with him and it cost him his friend's life. This was a major wake up call for him and he finally began to understand just how deep the weight of his oath was.
I feel him handing over his hammer was more symbolic than anything else. Yes the other guy lost his shield so may as well dual wield, but more importantly, Reinhardt handing over the hammer means that now he will truly embrace what it means to "be their shield".

I dunno. Maybe i'm making too much of it all, but that is what i got from this.

What bothers me about Overwatch is that it seems to be this great universe with all these awesome characters. But the game is just a MP only shooter, it really needs a great single player campaign. I hope all these videos is building up to a Overwatch campaign. Or a movie, it could be really epic.

Fact 1. During The Last Bastion you can see Eichenwalde Castle behind Bastion while he is traversing the Black Forest.

Fact 2. The Crusaders and the German army attracted the Omnics towards Eichenwalde to get them away from Stuttgart, the city Bastion was walking to in the Last Bastion, the city is also visible as well from Eichenwalde map in the game.
