The model of the phone is a Vitel TSM100, a white-label phone created for Telefónica in Spain. It was sold as the latest technology at the time, but turned out to be a flop. It was throttled, overheated when playing an MP3, and its touchscreen would desynchronize every 10 minutes. It promised to be a great phone, but Murphy's Law took its toll.

I had a Nokia similar to this as a teen, but instead of slide down, it flipped opened from the bottom to reveal a split keyboard on both sides of the screen.
