A massive fire in Vancouver, B.C.'s Dunbar neighbourhood on Tuesday night sent debris falling onto homes and streets for kilometres and toppled a crane.

On Wednesday morning, charred debris could be found in people’s yards and on sidewalks and roadways. By evening, many homes and businesses were still without power.

While the crane collapse damaged one house, two others in the area were lost due to the flaming embers. Several more were damaged.

Alissa Thibault has the latest from the scene.

New developer, presales at a slowdown, sales possibly not met. Smells more like insurance fraud.

The Vancouver Firefighters, the Vancouver Police, EHS, and BC Hydro were all absolutely amazing in containing a fire that could have been far more catastrophic ! ! ! Thank-you to all the First Responders! ! 💖

5-6 story wooden buildings are being built all over the city. This Would not be allowed anywhere, but this is Vancouver, City run by developers. It’s regrettable but true.

Most under construction buildings on fire are set on purpose… why security always on site but didn’t catch the arsonists…

Better build brick buildings so they dont catch fire.

Smells like an insurance scam. Those flames were raging on in a whole different way than a regular house/building fire. Given the market downturn due to costs and economic woes the builder wanted out.

This is what happens when you build six story wooden structures.

Sometimes those clear worker abandoned water bottles left at a certain fullness and if placed in the perfect place will concentrate sunlight like a magnifying glass....just saying!
