Billie Eilish sheds 100k Instagram followers post-queer revelation.

At Variety's annual Hitmakers Brunch event on Saturday, Billie Eilish candidly addressed her sexuality, confirming that she identifies as queer.

The Grammy Award-winning singer's revelation occurred during an interview where she was asked about the possibility of coming out in Variety's Power of Women issue.

In the aftermath of this disclosure, Eilish experienced a notable shift in her Instagram following, losing over 100,000 followers.

Reports indicate that she lost 117,750 followers in the past 30 days, with the majority opting to unfollow her on December 3.

The day after her red carpet interview, Eilish reportedly lost 40,428 Instagram followers.

During the interview, Eilish expressed surprise at the response, stating, "No, I didn't. But I kind of thought, 'Wasn't it obvious?' I didn't realize people didn't know."

She went on to share her perspective on the concept of coming out, expressing a belief in simply existing without the need for formal announcements.

"Why can't we just exist? I've been doing this for a long time, and I just didn't talk about it. Whoops," she added.

Eilish further elaborated on her feelings about the Variety article, admitting she was initially taken aback. "I saw the article, and I was like, oh... I guess... I came out today! OK cool.

This revelation followed Eilish's call-out of Variety in a previous Instagram post after the magazine's last month's issue.

While expressing gratitude for the award, she voiced dissatisfaction over being "outed" on the red carpet, urging others to focus on matters of substance.

Her post included a carousel of images and a plea: "Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters.
