My family fell from nobility during the War of the Roses, my family was on the losing side and fell into the gentry class, my family did marry one of the children of Charles Maitland the 6th Earl of Lauderdale, Captain Frederick Lewis Maitland, making the current earl of Lauderdale my 6th cousin. The Gentry class has influenced other nations upper class, my Great Grandfather came to Canada back in 1898 and got lots of land during that time near Manitoulin Island. The Gentry mannerisms, lexicon and posture trickled down to my generation. Even to the point of inheritance my family takes the European route, only one inheritor, which because my cousins are useless and on drugs I am the sole inheritor despite being the youngest. Its interesting too I have three accents, an indigenous accent(due to my geography growing up) a bush accent from white blue collar folks and Northern Country English from my family's English roots.(I still have to speak like that with certain family so i don't sound like an 'uneducated hick')
